Kaitlin Irvine

Kaitlin Irvine (she/her) joined the College Office in Spring 2021 after a decade as an advisor for both high school and college students. Previously, she worked in schools and organizations from rural Maryland to central Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, primarily supporting students who were the first generation in their families to go to college. In addition to being a pre-major advisor in the College of Arts & Sciences, she is also an Assistant Director of Advising Services and Academic Support on the CaseNet team. In this role, she supports students who are experiencing challenges that may impact their academics. Kaitlin aims to help make her advisees' transitions to Penn as smooth as possible and is happy to be a sounding board as they consider options and make decisions. She genuinely enjoys hearing about their interests, passions, aspirations, and how they’re making their time at Penn their own (both in and out of the classroom). She also connects students to other offices and resources on campus. 

Kaitlin grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Dickinson College, with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and minor in Sociology. Her most transformative college experiences were her semester abroad in Cameroon, Africa and her first-year seminar class, through which she and some classmates started a community afterschool program that helped shape her career path. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling from the College of William & Mary, and is passionate about educational access, social justice, and mental health. Her favorite spots in Philadelphia are the Magic Gardens, FDR Park, and the Italian Market. She loves musicals, dogs, reading, and pizza.
